umbrella Multi Storefront & SEO

Setup service

Optional help getting Umbrella set up

Umbrella makes its own theme changes — there is no code to copy and nothing to paste. This service is for everything around that: deciding how your brands are modelled, connecting the domains, and checking every storefront before you rely on it.

What the app does by itself

Every theme change Umbrella needs, it makes. You review a list of files with the exact before and after, press one button, and it writes them.

  • Adds its own snippets — the ones that work out which brand owns the page being served.
  • Replaces your theme’s canonical tag wherever your theme keeps it. Some themes put it in layout/theme.liquid; Shopify’s own Horizon keeps it in a snippet the layout renders. Umbrella finds it either way, and adds one to the head if a theme has none.
  • Installs the crawler files — the robots.txt template that points search engines at your sitemaps, and an agents.md that tells AI agents which brand each domain is.
  • Saves a copy of anything it replaces into your own theme first, so the original survives without us and Undo in Settings puts it back.

None of that needs a merchant to open the theme editor. If you want to read the code anyway, the Theme code page inside the app shows every file with a copy button.

What the service adds

The theme edit was never the hard part of a multi-storefront setup. Deciding what a brand is in your catalogue usually is.

  • Work out how your brands map onto one store — by tag, by collection, by vendor — and set the brand records up that way.
  • Connect the domains in Shopify, and check each one serves the brand you expect.
  • Set up markets and languages alongside them, where a brand sells in more than one.
  • Add Umbrella’s storefront blocks — brand switcher, per-brand header, brand cards — in the positions you want them.
  • Run the verification against every one of your domains and send you the result, with anything that failed explained rather than listed.
  • Where a theme is heavily customised, review the integration on a duplicate theme first. You publish it, not us.

Typical turnaround is one to two business days. Price depends on how many storefronts and how customised the theme is; we quote before starting, and the quote is the price.

What we need from you

  • A Shopify collaborator or staff account. Not your password — collaborator access is revocable, scoped, and logged.
  • Your storefront password, if the store is still private.
  • Which theme is the live one, if you keep several.

We ask for the narrowest access that does the job, and we tell you when we are finished so you can revoke it. If you would rather revoke it yourself immediately and re-grant later, that is fine.

What we will not do

  • Publish a theme. That decision stays yours.
  • Redesign your theme, or change anything outside the Umbrella integration.
  • Touch your products, prices, inventory, customers or orders. We do not need that access and do not ask for it.
  • Keep access after the work is done.

This service is provided by Nifty Design Solutions and is separate from your Umbrella subscription. It is not required. The app installs itself, and the docs describe what it changes.
